Luckily a lot has changed since then, and there are tons of talented creators sharing tools, tutorials, and all sorts of other resources to help people get their start, or even seasoned veterans brush up on some of their skills.
There's still no roadmap for becoming a successful comic book creator, and everyone's gonna do it, but hopefully this can help give you a little push in the right direction. Good luck and here's hoping you enjoy making comics as much as I do.
- The Standard Comic Script (SCS) from Steenz & Camilla Zhang
- Art technique and tips by @Timooee_
- Lettering Tutorials by Nate (Blambot) Pieko
- Comic Advocacy Group Group is a non-profit organization that offers training and support for upcoming creators.
- The Comic Book Legal Defense Fund is a non-profit organization dedicated to the protection of the First Amendment rights of the comics art form and its community of retailers, creators, publishers, librarians, and readers.
And of course, the quintessential primer for anyone interested in learning more about the technical, artistic, and conceptual principles of comics comes from the one and only Scott McCloud. To this day, I'll reread them and learn things I hadn't picked up previously.
